Does Spirit Halloween Let You Try On Costumes

Does Spirit Halloween Let You Try On Costumes

So, I Tried to Pull a 'Try Before You Buy' at Spirit Halloween...

You know those days when you're just browsing, minding your own business, and suddenly you find yourself in a sea of spooky smiles and pointy hats? Yeah, that was me last week at Spirit Halloween. I was just there to, you know, look, not buy. But then, I saw it. The costume that would make me the life of the party (or so I thought). But could I try it on? Let's dive in, shall we?

First Things First: The Costume

Picture this: a shimmering gold jumpsuit, complete with a cape that flows like a waterfall of sequins. I was ready to channel my inner Elvis, or maybe a disco ball gone wrong. Either way, I was sold. But could I take it for a spin in the fitting room?

I mean, it's not like I was asking to test drive a car or something. It's just a costume, right? Wrong.

When in Doubt, Ask

So, I did what any curious cat would do. I asked. I approached the nearest employee, who was busy restocking a display of plastic fangs. "Excuse me," I said, "Can I try this on?" I held up the jumpsuit, giving it a little shake for good measure.

She looked at me, then at the costume, then back at me. "I'm sorry, sir," she said, "We don't allow customers to try on costumes."

I blinked. "But... why?" I asked, my inner toddler coming out to play.

The Great Debate: Hygiene vs. Fun

It turns out, Spirit Halloween has a policy against trying on costumes. The reason? Hygiene. I get it, I do. But part of me can't help but wonder if they're missing out on a bit of fun. I mean, who wouldn't want to see their friend dressed up as a giant pizza slice before they buy?

But then again, I'm not running a store. I don't have to deal with the aftermath of a thousand kids trying on costumes and leaving a trail of glitter and who knows what else. So, I get it. I do. But it doesn't make it any less disappointing.

So, What's a Costume Lover to Do?

If you're like me and you want to try before you buy, here are a few tips:

  • Ask Nicely: You never know, you might catch an employee on a good day. They might let you try something on, especially if it's not busy.
  • Check Other Stores: Not all stores have the same policies. You might have better luck elsewhere.
  • Buy Online: If all else fails, you can always buy online and return if it doesn't fit. Just make sure to check the return policy first.

And who knows? Maybe one day, Spirit Halloween will change their policy. Until then, I'll just have to admire my disco ball jumpsuit from afar. Sigh.

But Hey, There's Always Next Year

Halloween might be over, but that doesn't mean we can't start planning for next year. Maybe I'll finally get my try-on moment. Or maybe I'll just have to settle for admiring the costumes from a distance. Either way, I'll be back. Because, let's face it, there's just something about a good costume that makes life a little bit more fun.

So, until next time, happy costume hunting! And remember, if you can't try it on, at least make sure you can return it. You never know when you might find the perfect costume... or the perfect disaster.
