Movies To Watch In October For Halloween

Hey there, movie buffs! It's that spooky time of the year again, and you know what that means - it's time to dust off your favorite horror flicks and get ready for a month-long movie marathon. So, grab your popcorn, dim the lights, and let's dive into the best movies to watch in October for Halloween!

Classics That'll Make You Jump

First up, we've got the classics that'll make you jump out of your skin and check under your bed for monsters. We're talking about the granddaddy of all horror films, Dracula (1931). Fun fact: Bela Lugosi, the original Dracula, was so convincing that he was terrified of mirrors in real life!

And how could we forget The Exorcist (1973)? This film was so scary that some theaters had to provide vomit bags for their patrons. Gross, but also kind of impressive, right?

Modern Monsters

Now, let's fast-forward to the modern era and its own brand of monsters. We've got Get Out (2017), a film so clever and unsettling that it'll make you question every friendly smile you see. Did you know that the sunken place was inspired by a real-life phenomenon called "sleep paralysis"? Spooky!

And who could forget Hereditary (2018)? This film is so disturbing that it's been banned in several countries. But don't worry, it's still available here - just don't blame us if you can't sleep for a week.

Slasher Flicks and Creepy Crawlies

Next up, we've got the slasher flicks that'll have you checking your windows and doors. We're talking about Halloween (1978), the film that made Michael Myers a household name. Fun fact: the iconic mask he wears is actually a William Shatner mask painted white!

And for those who love a good creature feature, there's Alien (1979). This film is so scary that it's been credited with inspiring a whole generation of astronauts to stick to space simulations. Just saying.

Horror-Comedies for a Laugh (and a Scream)

But maybe you're in the mood for something a little lighter? Enter the horror-comedy, the perfect blend of laughs and scares. We've got Shaun of the Dead (2004), a zombie flick with a heart of gold. And who could forget Scream (1996), the film that taught us all that the rules of horror are made to be broken?

And for something a little more recent, there's Freaky (2020), a hilarious and gory take on the body-swap trope. Did you know that the film's original title was Freaky Friday the 13th? Too bad they had to change it - that's a title with some serious potential!

Anime and International Gems

But wait, there's more! If you're feeling adventurous, why not try some international horror? We've got Ju-On: The Grudge (2002) from Japan, a film so scary that it's been banned in several countries. And for something a little more animated, there's Akira (1988), a cyberpunk classic that's as thought-provoking as it is terrifying.

And if you're in the mood for something a little weirder, there's always Pan's Labyrinth (2006). This film is so strange and beautiful that it'll leave you questioning your own sanity. In the best way, of course.
